Its unique name rumored to originated as acronyms derived from fabrics the company used in its headwears, KANGOL was established in 1938 and quickly became the leading beret manufacturer in the world. With the subsequent onset of World War 2, the humble headwear became a must have accessories for both men and women. In the 1980’s, the company enjoyed a resurgence as the Hip-Hop generation adopted the brand and style. Since then, KANGOL is as popular as ever and work in conjunction with some of leading labels in street wear, such as Kangol × Alife fedora and Evil Monito, to explore new design concepts.
One such project is the new KANGOL x Fragment Design. This new collaboration is based on the KANGOL Wool Galaxy, a new take on the classic newsboy hat. Constructed from 8 panels of wool blend, the KANGOL kangaroo logo is embroidered at the rear along side Fragement Design’s lightning bolts. On the inside, Fragement Design’s lightning bolts can be found on the center button as well. Set to launch today, October 4th, the hat will come in 5 different colorways, at a price of JP¥ 10,290 (~US$ 88). It will be only available through honeyee.com’s online retail point, hnyee.Store.
