As we all know by now (via the internet.) Mr. West Rocked the stage at SXSW in Austin TX. Yes Kanye West performed a “Not So Secret Show” at the Levi’s/Fader Fort event on Saturday. Thanks to the internet a frenzied buzz and rumors; all of SXSW was on a Kanye search.
On Saturday all the rumors were put to rest. Kanye and his entourage hit the Fader Fort stage accompanied by two DJ’s a guitarist, bassist, and drummer, During his Levi’s/Fader Fort takeover Kanye brought Common and Erykah Badu onstage and busted a few freestyle flows. Common and Erykah put the smash down with a fresh rendition of Common’s track “The Light.” One of the highlights was when Kanye and Kid Cudi performed a remix of “Day and Night.” He closed out his set with a group version of “Love Lockdown.” Check out the Video of the live performance above.

The Crooks and Castles crew and making use of a cool little concept. They have created a trunk show, sample sale, club-ish type event. The event is called the CASH ONLY SHOW and is styled and formatted similarly to a quarterly tradeshow, minus the registration, badge requirement, and min orders and hundreds of brands you will never hear from again . This event will showcase 20 of the top brands in the street wear game. So, be smart and get there early to get the best of the selection. The “CASH ONLY SHOW” sample sale event will take place Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd at Cinespace in Hollywood. DJ’s spinning thru out the day while you shop in a tradeshow-like environment. FREE ADMISSION.

The After Party will also be take place at Cinespace from 9pm-2am Saturday, 21st, 2009! It will be hosted by the Legendary SHINEHEAD aka 2 Face. On the turntables will be a host of Dj’s, including Phoreyz ready to rock everything from breaks, to some rare funk 45’s, Coleman and B + of Mochilla/TIMELESS rocking some of the dopest Brasilian, Columbian and African beats, DJ Short Kut on the video mix rocking some dope 90’s hiphop and reggae videos, and the Beat Junkies soul brotha #1 Dj JRocc dropping the hot iisshh.

Shepard Fairey known on the underground sub culture art scene for his experiment in phenomenology, and more recently; Fairey gained world wide fame for his Obama poster creation. Shepard has had an interesting life recently, he’s was sued by the Associated press and arrested in Boston last month during his first major art museum exhibit. But Things are looking up for MR. Shepard Fairey, He recently partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to create an ad campaign. Shepard Fairey along with Studio Number One employee Cleon Peterson applied their propaganda styled street art to the Saks Fifth Avenue Spring 2009 advertising campaign.
The campaign titled “I Want It” features the typical Shepard Fairey color scheme: red, white and black with big block letters, and Soviet-era graphics spirit of Constructivism art. The campaign posters feature various models wearing high-end brands and individual products.
The new spring 2009 department store catalog cover and shopping bags will feature the slogan “Want It!” in a few different designs. Not sure how long the campaign will last but, I’m pretty sure the posters and bags will become collectors items.
