Q-Tip has announced a tentative spring release for The Renaissance, which will arrive via Motown/Universal. On the new album, Q-Tip employs the efforts of a full live band and some big-name guest performers (D’Angelo, Common, Andre 3000). Also in the works for release is Kamaal The Abstract, his 2001 album that was shelved by Arista for being too, well, abstract for commercial purposes. Q-Tip owns the album himself now, according to Billboard, and will perform songs from it on his forthcoming tour.
That’s not all: Now that Tip has assumed control of his MySpace page (previously managed by his record label), he’s also making rarities and demos available. The unreleased “Move,” which was produced by the late, great J Dilla, is currently streaming on the site.
