In keeping with their traditional knack for staying on top of technological advancements, Def Jam has enlisted MixCast—digital purveyors of “urban lifestyle television”—to produce the on-demand Internet video series, Mixing With Def Jam. Chronicling the label’s major 2007 promotional push, the MixCasting crew captures footage of Def Jam artists and personalities as they work the crowds at Super Bowl XLI, the Grammys and NBA All-Star Weekend. MixCast founder Gary Murray said in a statement, “We are extremely pleased to partner with Def Jam to produce the first of our original series.” First original series, huh? Well, Def Jam’s certainly not a bad start.
